Environmentally conscious Europeans, hold on to your plan to buy a car till 2007! It will be witnessing the launch of 104 new car models. Along with featuring fresh color combinations, new technology, the car engines will be made eco-friendly to contribute towards lowering emissions in the coming year.
This figure to hit the European showrooms is almost a third more compared to the previous year, German car analyst Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer informed. Analyst Christopf Stuermer of Global Insight in Frankfurt said,
While in 2006 the focus was on SUVs (Sports Utility Vehicles) and convertibles the new model cycle is breaking out of the niche sector.
A medium class of the next generation new models — the Mercedes C-Class, the new Audi A4 and the third generation of the Ford Mondeo will be hitting the European market during the first quarter of the next year - kicking up plenty of competition for the compact class, making up 25 percent of the German market.
Among all others, 3 new French SUVs — the Peugeot 4007, the Citroen C-Crosser and the Renault study Koleos - will be launched. Ford is also working on Focus’ SUV version!
This eventually seems to be striking a balance between flourishing automotive industry and meeting the Kyoto goal on reducing vehicular emissions.
