Covering 865 laps (2 945-km) at an average speed of 122 km/h, the Lexus hybrid team drove to win the 17th position overall and fourth in the ST1 class. The STI class category measures maximum engine displacement. In this latest 13th Tokachi 24-hour race, the organizers added a special-category vehicle in this class.
Though the SARD racing team faced a minor problem when the coolant temperature rose, the team still managed to get the Tochu Award for their fighting spirit and determination.
Yoshiaki Kinoshita, General Manager of the motorsport division at Toyota Motor Corporation is delighted. He shares that the Lexus GS430h petrol-electric hybrid car’s trouble-free participation proves another step forward for hybrid technology.
