Air pollution has affected the city of Westminster largely. The Govt. has therefore decided to take some strong measures to avoid it. The petrol and diesel vehicles contribute heavily to the noise pollution so the authorities have imposed heavy congestion charge for these vehicles while making and entry into the city.
Electric cars are a good substitute for these gas emission vehicles. In order to promote the use of this clean transport vehicle, free power points in Wellington Street and Southampton Street in the Covent Garden entertainment district have been launched. These cars are also exempted to 16 dollars congestion charge to be paid per day for other car owners to enter the city. These steps will surely turn the attention of people toward electric cars and we will see more and more people using them to travel around the City of London in few years.
This is a good initiative and should come in to play at other places too to minimize the risk of pollution.
