While we were anticipating the launch of Mercedes’ hybrid Mercedes S Class only by 2008, it seems the carmaker had something secretly brewing all along. The carmaker has revealed a hybrid E-Class sedan, E320 Bluetec that will be introduced in the US market this year and Europe next year. This will be the first hybrid product from Mercedes.
The E320 will be the first clean vehicle to be launched by Mercedes under the Bluetec umbrella. The E320 is a mile hybrid that comes with a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine with an in-line electric motor. With this, Mercedes is already claiming the world’s cleanest diesel record. The hybrid also has an average fuel consumption of 6.7 litres/100km.
