According to a research conducted by Synovate, 37% of US consumers would consider purchasing a Flex Fuel vehicle that runs on gasoline or E85 (85% Ethanol) on their next car buying trip. However, when told about the 25% loss in fuel economy, more than a third of these same consumers retreated.
Besides this the 1,240 buyers studied and those intending to buy new light duty cars and trucks, also found that consideration of a hybrid vehicle has flattened at just under 50% though awareness is high. On the other hand, though plug-in awareness is still low, but when informed, 49% of consumers said they would consider purchasing one, as strongly as hybrids.
Diesel received the lowest level of consideration’only half of what hybrids managed, though a hot topic among American citizens.
