It is hard to believe that in coming future the electric vehicles may completely replace the conventional fuel combustion vehicles.

We saw a few major limitations to these hybrid vehicles, including:

• Low traveling range on a single charge
• Higher cost

But with time these problems seems to be overcome easily. Some of the companies are working on the new technologies that will ensure more storage capacities utilizing the minimal space and in the most cost-effective manner. However, a beginning towards this new era.

1. A company from Texas has announced that they have developed an ultracapacitor technology based on barium-titanate powders that can easily out perform the lithium-ion batteries. These new batteries are projected to be very cost-effective, compact in size, quick in response and much more safer due to absence of any toxic chemicals.

2. MotivNation, a California-based provider and manufacturer of ‘tools and toys for the automotive enthusiast have also revealed an innovative light electric vehicle that makes use of a motor, controller, battery and sophisticated technologies to beat the limitations.

3. A123 Systems has also took the initiative to support a drag motorcycle known as KillaCycle that will make use of the companies products to operate. The motorcycle is powered by 374 volts of electricity stored in 880 small, but powerful, Lithium Ion cells (batteries) provided by A123 Systems. This makes it the world’s quickest 1/4 mile electric drag bike.

With such developments and increasing interest of the industry towards these hybrid vehicles, I see a pool of bright opportunities coming up for the consumers and that too at affordable rates.
