Still at a concept stage, this hydrogen-propelled scooter, Fhybrid has a top speed of 40 mph and can travel around 124 miles on a single tank of hydrogen. Designed by an industrial design student, Crijn Bouman of Delft University of Technology, Netherlands this scooter will adapt perfectly to inner cities.
The scooter is supported by an electric motor powered by a Li-ion battery, which is charged with a fuel-cell system, energy for which would be tapped from a tank of hydrogen. The scooter is also front-wheel drive so that energy produced while braking can also be used to charge the batteries.
Bouman tells:
The look and feel of the scooter are aimed at selling the clean technology inside. A special course and various permits are required to build a hydrogen-powered engine. It wasn’t possible to achieve this during the time period of my graduation project. The faculty is now trying to assemble all the necessary means to fully develop the hydrogen-powered scooter.
Whether the scooter would be available for mass consumption is a question difficult to answer. Obtaining hydrogen by splitting it out of water is too costly now to be practical. Nevertheless, do not underestimate the potential of science; I do hope this one passes the conception stage but with a slight modification at the seat, it does not look really comfortable.

Would it be possible to use a vast amount of solar panels that generate electricity out in the desert which would jpower a process to seperate hydrogen out of water? If so, what are we waiting for? New Mexico and Nevada wasteland could be converted into large manufacturing plants for hydrogen. Opps! I forgot that ”Big Oil” would never permits such an experiment and they would instruct our federal congress to impede the process at every step.
I like this scooter. It’s nice :)
