While there are many hybrid skeptics out there, I am driven to state my support for Hybrids after a deep perusal - why? Coz it is so hot.

Contrary to many doubts, Hybrids are actually the in-thing. Take for example Dave Krauss, Hybrid owner. Trading his Escape for a hybrid, Krauss fills up half as often and gets double the mileage of what he did before.

He states:

The battery is recharged by the braking system; every time you step on the brakes, it actually puts a little energy back into the battery. When you’re driving along at regular speeds, it actually combines the battery power and the gas power so you still get the benefit of the increased gas mileage by using partial battery power.

Mike Igar, a hybrid dealer states:
I get probably 10 Pruises a month, and I’m selling 15, so I’m going five more deep on the waiting list every month. The Camry, I’m probably putting two or three people on the waiting list a day.

However, only one percent of the driving population uses hybrid, but according to Toyota’s prediction by 2010, 10 to 20 percent of all vehicles in the US sold are going to be hybrid.
