According to news, automotive supplier Johnson Controls
is in collaboration with renowned battery maker Saft Advanced Power Solutions to make available a refined lithium-ion battery system. Both companies also won a 24-month contract with the United States Advanced battery Consortium, for which the DOE volunteered to bear half of the project’s cost.
Given Johnson Controls’ successful electronics record, it is evident that the twosome would be the first to introduce 50 miles-per-charge battery in the markets. Once this happens, it could serve a big leap forward for hybrid technology and for both companies as well.
