When it was granted a new electric car last week, it was with an assurance that the Council would spread the message of sustainable transport wherever it went. The Lambeth Council, already noted for being voted the Transport for London (TfL) Borough of the Year for promoting sustainable transport. The reason for its receiving TfL-funded car and also known for being as one of the three beneficiaries of such cars.



Councillor Nigel Haselden, Deputy Cabinet Member for Transport, said:

It is important that we take a lead in promoting the sustainability message in the borough, which is why it is great news that we have secured this electric car.




The Council’s environmental department is based at Blue Star House, Brixton where the employees would use the car as a pool. The vehicle is covered with sustainability information, so that wherever it travels it would spread the sustainability message to the borough’s streets.
