Before gas prices skyrocketed, like the present, anyone who went for a hybrid were seen with disdain and probably mocked at. Considering the $3000 more, one has to spend on a hybrid; such preference is weird for the pre high gas price age.

However, hybrid is now a requirement and since solution for gas problem is still undiscovered, hybrid adoption, now means saving on gas expenses. As of now, there are many companies that are trying to popularize hybrids and such measures, more or less, always lead to cuts in gas expenses.

Take for example, last month, we heard about Toyota’s plan to increase Prius hybrid efficiency. To make it more affordable for customers, it has earlier declared its intention to cut the hybrid premium to about $1,500.

Following close behind is General Motors. The company has priced its Saturn Vue hybrid SUV at $23,000, which is $1,500 more than gas version. Saturn general manager Jill Lajdziak says the Vue price ‘makes true hybrid fuel savings available to more people than ever before’.

Based on the fuel economy of hybrids, potential buyers of certain hybrids can get a tax credit from under $1,000 to more than $3,000.
