These golf cart like mini cars, Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) are doing rather well in two Californian cities-Lincoln and Rocklin. Popularized by residents of the Del Webb Sun City Lincoln Hills retirement community in Lincoln these cars now have its own lane in NEV lane over highway 65.
Due to the provision of its won lane, these NEVs are becoming common phenomenon in these cities as drivers can now have access to almost all parts of the city. Sun City resident Ursula Yoyvodich said:
I use it all the time to go shopping or a laundry run. Everything is wonderful.
A delighted Jeff Greenberg, who said he drives his four-seat NEV as much as his car these days’ shares:
I call it an “E” ride at Disney World. I just love it.
NEVs usually travel up to 30 miles an hour and can run more than 250 miles on a single electrical charge–without a drop of gas. First started in the golf course community, after the legislation last year it has become a huge success. Sun City prides itself for owning 200 pieces of these cars and is certain that a brighter future awaits these cars.
