General Motors have entrusted Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies with the liability of providing them, Hydrogen Storage System for their Equinox Fuel Cell Fleet. GM plans to equip the Fleet with 10,000 psi tank, which accounts for double storage as compared to most of the Fuel Cell Vehicles.
Quantum will base the requisite tank on their Type IV all Composite ,Polymer lined tank design , which is an ultra lightweight tank , thus the credence issue wont be of much relevance for the Equinox Fleet .
Quantum has developed and safety tested the pattern explicitly for the Equinox Fuel Cell Fleet. GM made an evident choice by picking up Quantum as they have created their own proprietary High-pressure valves, regulators and safety designs for the Equinox system.
