Renault has made a mind to abide by the stringent environmental guidelines and is set to launch its all new ‘eco ’ vehicle line that will meet the three main guidelines as set by the ISO right from the birth of the car till its disposal.
The three guidelines are listed below.
• Covering carbon-dioxide emissions levels (set at a maximum of 140g/km)
• Reusability (95% reusable components at end of life as seem in the pop-up)
• Level of recycled plastics used (at least 5%).
The company will launch the Megane, Trafic, Master and upcoming Twingo under this initiative. The biggest problem that comes in mind considering all these conditions is that how to make these vehicles affordable for the consumers to buy so the company has come out with some very effective solutions like.
• Utilization of downsized engines and bioful-driven vehicles.
• Applying turbo charging or direct injection technology to cover up the performance lost by the downsized engines so the 1.9L diesel engine with an output of 93hp has now been replaced by a more fuel-efficient 1.5L turbocharged powerplant delivering 105hp.
You will encounter some other advancements like use of a multi-blade variable geometry turbocharger, piezoelectric multi-injection and a particulate filter with exhaust post-injection which have been made considering biofuels for controlling CO2 emission. The company is also working hard to implement second-generation fuels sourced using the Fischer Tropsch process from natural gas, coal or biomass, as well as further analysis of electric vehicles, hybrids and fuel cells.
So now you can drive these guilt free vehicles from Renault. The eco line will initially apply to Renault brand vehicles only but will eventually spread to other models within the Renault-Nissan empire.
