After 2 years of collaboration, Tokyo Electric Power Company and Fuji Heavy Industries have finally disclosed the new electric car. The car which is based on Fuji Heavy’s Subaru R1 minicar can now achieve as much as 80km on a single charge with the help of a 346V battery pack.
Best thing about the car is that the battery is resistant to overcharging and can get 80% efficiency within 15 minutes of recharge.
If the test conducted by TEPCO fares well, then it plans to replace 500 business-use vehicles with the new electric cars each year. With such changes, TEPCO aims to replace 3,000 of its business-use vehicles by 2010.
Fuji Heavy, on the other hand, will commercialize the vehicles by early 2009.
