The BMW Hydrogen 7 is world’s first hydrogen-drive luxury performance automobile, which we covered a couple of months back too. The car celebrated its world premiere at the Los Angeles International Auto Show with the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. BMW known for its luxury automobiles has made this model as a viable solution until the hydrogen infrastructure is fully developed. The car is equipped with a 191 kW twelve-cylinder engine that accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds.
The best feature of the model is dual-mode drive that makes it capable of running on either hydrogen or on petrol. The feature can be controlled by a single button to switch from one mode to another. The car can travel 200 km in hydrogen mode and emits water vapors reducing the pollution. Moreover, it can travel another 500 km in conventional mode extending the total range to 700 kilometers. The car provides you with all the desired comfort while running on either mode and ensures the safety by limiting the top speed to 230 km/h electronically.
The car will be built in limited series for selected users during 2007.
