Heavy duty auto makers are all gearing up to develop hybrid vehicles as these vehicles like trucks are the most gas drinking vehicles of all.
But things haven’t turned our way and no manufacturer till now claimed to have fully developed a hybrid truck.
Volvo may be the first company to release a fully hybrid model of these giant vehicles.
Volvo has commented that the company has been successful in developing a heavy duty hybrid engine that are around 35% more fuel efficient than the non-hybrid forms and use regenerative breaking and an electric motor.
The company has not made any comments on the price and availability of these hybrid monsters but considering the applications and the engines I don’t think that it will be a cheap deal.
