Hold your breaths! The OScar Open Source car has finally been spotted and will be displayed at the AutoRAI show in Amsterdam this week. Dubbed ‘c,mm,n‘ (or common), the car is the result of the Oscar project.
The goal was to produce a simple, sturdy, easily-maintained, multi-functional, modular vehicle that was truly international.
Well, the car’s specs, technical drawings and the other similar things are available to anyone who needs them. This true Open Source car has been designed by an online group over the last eight years.
The c,mm,n is said to be a environment-conscious car. That’s why it employs a hydrogen fuel cell for propulsion and touts ultra-modern features such as a 2-way interactive GPS with live traffic and parking info. You can make changes to the car as much as you like to.
Anyway, there is another open source car dubbed Oscar in the works.

The design reminds me of a platypus. Looking at this model, they had not only eliminated the box-type design with the rounded edges, but other parts of the car like the rear view mirror and weatherstrip on the windows.
